Supervisor Keith opened the special meeting at 9:28 pm. The pledge allegiance having been recited and the roll having been called, the meeting proceeded.
1. FUEL BIDS: The Town Clerk reported no bids had been received as yet for fuel. Requests for same have been and will be published in the Adirondack Daily Enterprise and Press Republican once per week over a 4-week period. Coun. Berg asked if the State or County had awarded contracts, and Supv. Keith responded if contracts had been awarded, they would not cover this area. The bid deadline is October 14, 2009.
1. GARAGE REPAIR . A discussion ensued regarding the necessity for immediate repairs to the Town Garage. Under NYS regulations, a certified engineer must oversee the matter. Supv. Keith distributed copies of a faxed estimate from Earth Science Engineering:
Replace exterior berm against garage wall
Less: Town to furnish insulation
Town will furnish 220 cu. yds. sand Town to use its front loader Scientists and engineers
Claims 28 - 30

(This might be as little as $2,000, but will depend on results of investigation.)
Total estimated cost
Supv. Keith stated the Town will do whatever it can, utilizing its workforce and vehicles, to minimize the expense. Supt. DeMars indicated the Highway Dept., under professional supervision, would be able to move earth against the side of the building by the week of October 12th, and he has reserved some fill for this purpose.
