Town of Franklin Board Meetings

April 23, 2007 - 5:00 pm

The Town Board of the Town of Franklin held a duly noticed Special Board meeting on Monday, April 23, 2007 at 5:00 pm at the Vermontville Town Hall. (change per 5/14/07 meeting)

Councilman Gene Goff
Councilperson Janet Ordway
Councilman Tim Goff

Board members absent:

Councilman Walt Kretser

Others Present:

Town Clerk Sandra Oliver

CALL TO ORDER

Supervisor Keith called the meeting to order; the Pledge of Allegiance was recited; the Town Clerk called the roll, and announced a quorum was present. Supervisor Keith announced the purpose of the meeting was to open bids submitted for the 1976 John Deere 830 tractor which had been designated surplus equipment.

BID OPENING AND ACCEPTANCE

Two bids were received following publication of request for bids:

Charles Bullis, Bloomingdale, NY$600.01
William Irwin, Peru, NY$1,103.00

After a brief discussion, the Board determined to award the bid to Mr. Irwin.

Motion to accept Irwin bid for $1,103.00 for tractor (J.Ordway-G.Goff m/s/p) ALL AYE

The Town Clerk was requested to notify the bidders. Supervisor Keith stated the proceeds of the sale of the tractor would be directed to the Capital Projects Highway - Equipment Fund.

Motion to direct funds to Cap. Proj. Hwy - Equipment (G.Goff-T.Goff m/s/p) ALL AYE

OLD BUSINESS

Supv. Keith reported that the General Fund employee had performed significant research on the gas-powered stick with removable heads for use in lawn maintenance. She will distribute copies of same to the Town Board.

NEW BUSINESS

1. Correspondence had been received from Supervisor Larry Miller of Harrietstown suggesting that the Village of Saranac Lake and Towns of Franklin and Harrietstown pool their resources to develop area-wide comprehensive land use planning.

2. Additional correspondence from the Village of Saranac Lake and the Town of Harrietstown concerned a future public meeting to address retail size cap.

Following discussion, the Board determined the Town's planning would involve subdivision regulations for the time being. Supervisor Keith will correspond with Supv. Miller to that effect as well as attend the retail cap meeting.

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to conduct, the meeting adjourned at 5:12 pm
